Boulder, Colorado. — About 1,200 Colorado residents have been ordered to evacuate due to a rapidly spreading wildfire near the site of the devastating 2021 fire, Boulder police said Saturday.

South Boulder homes evacuated because of wildfire burning near NCAR

Police said on Twitter that protected wilderness lands are burning near the Table Mesa neighborhood and the National Center for Atmospheric Research. The authorities shoot him NCAR.

The BPD said the CU Boulder South campus was also evacuated due to the NCAR fire.

Colorado Parks and Wildlife said El Dorado Canyon State Park is now closed, and rangers are working to get visitors out of the park.

The BPD said their dispatch was inundated with calls, and they asked the public to avoid the area and not call 911 to report it.

Eldorado Canyon State Park is closed and authorities have ordered people hiking or climbing in the area to evacuate.

University of Colorado Boulder police are evacuating the southern campus and police are blocking westbound traffic on roads near the fire.

Boulder Police said the fire started around 3 p.m. and an emergency operations center was activated.

Emergency alerts were sent to cell phones within a radius of 1/4 mile (0.4 km) from the research center.
