Asheville police are investigating a shooting that killed two people at Woodridge Apartments in West Asheville.

“At approximately 2:15 p.m. today,” spokesman Bill Davis said.

Patrol officers from the Asheville Police Department have been dispatched to District 60 of Bingham Street in West Asheville to investigate a shooting that killed two people at the scene.

Davis said he is an active investigation with several first responders at the apartment complex site at 61 Bingham Road.

“Criminal Investigations Department investigators and APD forensic technicians are on site to conduct their investigations, and the Middle East Department,” Davis said.

In addition to the Asheville Fire Department.” “EMS service has arrived in Buncombe County, too.”

This is the second consecutive shooting over the weekend that killed one person.

On May 29, Asheville police found Keith Anthony Mosley, Jr., 21, in Building 100 of Atkinson Street around 3:30 p.m.

Mosley was shot several times, and was taken to Mission Hospital, where he died.

Kevin Martis Edgerton, 23, has been charged with first-degree murder after turning himself in to the Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office, according to a press release.

Today’s shooting victims, as yet unidentified, will be the seventh and eighth murders in the city this year.

Six of them were shot.
