Watertown investigating Case Middle School

WATERTOWN, NY – The Watertown Police Department is investigating a video posted on social media that showed a juvenile holding a gun and pointed at Case Middle School.
According to police, members of the public reported to the department a written video that circulated showing a young man with a gun pointing at Case Middle School in Watertown.
As a result, the Watertown Police Department launched an investigation into the social media incident on June 11.
People who saw the written video reported it to the authorities.
The age of the event depicted in the video was unclear, as were his words.
According to the police, the people involved in the posts on social media have been identified and are being interviewed.
In addition, additional security measures are taken in response to social media posts.
The ministry stressed the importance of protecting the community and taking any potential threat seriously in a press release from Detective Sergeant Joseph A. Giaquinto on June 12.

“We take all of these publications very seriously and are fully investigating them to help make the community we serve safer,” the department said in the press release.
The department also encouraged anyone with additional information to contact the Watertown Police Department at 315-782-2233.
The investigation into the social media incident is ongoing.
The Watertown Police Department is assisted by the New York State Police, the FBI, and the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.
