UMC hospital patient fatally stabs

LAS VEGAS, Nevada – The Las Vegas City Police UMC hospital patient fatally stabs 1, injures another, said.
LVMPD said the incident occurred around 1:50 a.m. on June 23 in the psychiatric ward at UMC.
The initial call to the police was to report a person with a knife.

LVMPD said a psychopath, a man in his forties, came out of his room armed with a knife.
LVMPD said the patient entered the hospital room of the first victim, a man in his 20s, and stabbed him.
The victim was in soft shackles at the time.
Police said the suspect then exited the room and stabbed another patient who was in a hospital bed in the ward’s hallway.
This patient, also a man in his twenties, was able to escape. LVMPD said it was expected to be fine.
LVMPD said LVMPD corrections officers who happened to be at UMC with another patient heard the commotion and were able to respond within a minute.
Police said the suspect returned to his room when the officers discovered it. The suspect was eventually arrested.
Police said it was not clear how the patient obtained the knife.
Police also said the suspect had not been arrested prior to the incident.
Police did not specify why the suspect was taken to hospital, or whether the man had a previous criminal history.
