Two deputies shot in Spanaway
TACOMA, Washington – Two Pierce County sheriffs were shot dead Tuesday south of Tacoma, Washington, and taken to hospital for treatment, authorities said.
The Pierce County Sheriff’s Department said on Twitter on Tuesday afternoon that intense police activity was taking place at the 19,000 block of Pacific Avenue South near Spanaway.

The News Tribune reported that the shooting occurred when the SWAT team attempted to arrest someone to investigate an assault crime and that the person the MPs were arresting had been arrested.
According to Sergeant Darren Moss of Pierce County, during a planned SWAT operation Tuesday morning, two deputies were shot and shot.
According to The News Tribune, the SWAT team attempted to arrest a person for felony assault investigation.
Victor Perez, 51, told the newspaper he was at his screen printing and embroidery job on Pacific Avenue when he heard the sirens and saw patrol cars speeding to the scene.
He said he heard screams from the other side of the street, but did not hear gunshots.
The two representatives were rushed to hospitals.
Their circumstances are unknown at this time.
