Tornado watch of New York and Pennsylvania

Tornado clocks in New York and Pennsylvania until 11 p.m. — including all four valley counties — as heavy thunderstorms make their way across Pennsylvania this afternoon.
Tornado watch includes Tompkins, Cayuga, Cortland, Broome, Chemung, Onondaga, Tioga and other nearby counties.
The National Weather Service in Binghamton said this morning that there is an increased risk of severe storms in our area, with the potential for damaging winds, significant hail, lightning and heavy rain, along with the potential for a hurricane.
The clock is in effect until 11 p.m. According to the State College National Weather Service, widespread gusts of up to 70 miles per hour are possible this afternoon, along with scattered hail of up to two inches in diameter.

Severe storms are expected to continue to appear across the two states into the evening.
A hurricane watch means conditions are favorable for severe tornadoes and thunderstorms in and near the watch areas.
