SEMINOL, Oklahoma — Authorities are assessing the damage after Hurricane Seminole struck Wednesday evening.

Matt Haley, the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office, told KOCO 5 that there were reports of people trapped by the damage, but crews were able to get them out.

A shocking video clip showed the storm raging in Mod. The Oklahoma City metro area is expected to see severe weather through Wednesday evening.

The multi-vortex tornado headed north to Seminole, with a reporter reporting extensive damage, including a roof rupturing from at least one structure.

Power lines were said to be covering the roads as a videotape showed sheet metal and debris in the streets.

Hayley said he hasn’t heard of any injuries, but it’s still early days. He added that downtown Seminole was probably the hardest hit.

The authorities plan to expel the drones soon for evaluation. Some people are powerless.

Several homes have already been destroyed, with roofs torn off and streets covered in debris.

The roof of the Seminole Academy was torn open and debris scattered everywhere.

The NWS shared recommendations on where residents can seek shelter during a hurricane, including traveling to an underground storm shelter, storm cellar or basement.
