Severe weather hits Nebraska
Lincoln, Neb – Thursday is Weather Alert Day 10/11 for severe storms. Severe thunderstorms will threaten most of the region Thursday night.
An unstable air mass will combine with a cold front to bring much of the 10/11 country at risk of severe thunderstorms.
Destructive wind gusts of 60 to 80 mph, hail to 2 in diameter, dangerous lightning and heavy rain will be possible with the strongest storms.
Isolated tornadoes will also be possible, although they are not likely to occur in most locations.
In effect until 9 p.m. Thursday night in most areas of central and eastern Nebraska, including Lincoln and Lancaster County.
Hurricane warnings were issued for Burt, Cumming, Dodge and Thurston counties as of 7:00 p.m. CT.
Several thunderstorm hours have also been issued across the state through tonight.
High wind warnings are in effect for Sheridan counties
Kaya Baha, Brown
Garden, Grant, Hooker
Thomas, Blaine, Arthur
Macpherson, Logan, Dewell
Keith, Perkins, Lincoln
Chase, Hayes, Frontier
Sherry Counties until 9:00 PM PT / 8:00 PM GMT.
Once the cold front moves across the area later Thursday night, cooler and less humid conditions will spread across the area giving us a more pleasant day on Friday.
Another frontier frontier will give us a chance for showers and thunderstorms again Saturday afternoon into Saturday night, perhaps lingering over eastern Nebraska into Sunday morning.
