BLOOMINGTON, Minn. — Police Respond to Possible Shooting at Minnesota’s Mall of America, in suburban Minneapolis.

Dan Jasper, a spokesman for the Mall of America, confirmed that the mall was closed on Thursday afternoon, without giving further details.

Bloomington Police confirmed on Twitter that it was running an “active event” with several officers at the site. They gave no other details.

Videos posted on social media showed what appeared to be a man screaming as he walked near the mall’s Nike store, with at least three gunshots.

Another video showed two police officers, one with a gun, moving through the mall, and people walking quickly away from the mall’s large indoor lobby area.

The mall, which opened in 1992, is the largest in the United States and is a tourist destination and community gathering.
According to its website, the Mall of America prohibits the use of guns on its premises.

The mall does not have metal detectors and shoppers are not screened upon entry.

It was the scene of a shooting spree on New Year’s Eve, when two people were apparently injured during an altercation.
