Firefighting efforts continued Sunday morning as firefighters worked to put out a blaze at a vacant former resort in St. Charles, which began Saturday afternoon.
Charles Fire Department responded at approximately 4:40 p.m. to a report of a fire at the former Pheasant Run Resort, 4051 Main St.
The first fire engine arrived at 4:45 p.m. and found “dangerous fire conditions” coming from several areas within a building on the property. What was originally reported as a two-alarm fire increased in intensity to the three-alarm box response as a result of the extent of the fire and the sheer size of the complex, according to the publication.
More than 20 district fire departments, St. Charles Police, the Emergency Management and Public Works Agency and the city’s Department of Electricity and Water participated in the response.
The West Chicago Water Department and the Kane County Office of Emergency Management joined forces during the incident.
Officials said no one was reported injured.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation by the St Charles Fire Department and Police.
