Officer killed in north Everett
EVERETT, Washington – One person was killed in a crash Tuesday morning in Everett.
Officers were called to report an accident at approximately 8:00 a.m. on Rucker Ave of 41st St. to 43rd St.
The Northbound Passes were closed during the investigation.
George LaBeouf, 24, who lives in an apartment next door, heard the shooting at about 2:15 p.m.
He looked outside and saw the body of a uniformed officer on the floor in the parking lot of Starbucks at 1010 North Broadway.
LaBeouf said the shooter hid his gun, then took off and ran over the officer, ripping off the rear bumper of his blue Mini Cooper.
The car drove fast, smashed through an intersection and turned west on 10th Street, then turned left on Lombard Street.
Snohomish County sheriffs covered the body of an officer who fell into a yellow sheet at about 2:30 p.m. in a parking lot.
Around the same time, the suspect was reportedly involved in the crash of a white truck and a blue passenger car on 35th Street and Rucker Street.
Authorities said to use Colby Street as a detour. The closure was expected to last for hours.
The Snohomish County Multi-Agency Response Team, a cadre of investigators investigating law enforcement’s use of force, also responded backstage.
They will lead an investigation into what happened.
