City officer and second driver killed in an I-25 crash while chasing Santa Fe, New Mexico.
SANTA FE – A Santa Fe police officer and motorist were killed Wednesday morning in multiple vehicle accidents while the officer was chasing a kidnapping suspect who was driving the wrong way on I-25 east of Santa Fe.
Authorities say the suspect is still at large.

The driver then traveled to I-25 on St. Francis Drive and started driving the wrong way on I-25 heading south.
Then, between the Old Pecos Trail and Eldorado exits, the driver began going the wrong way on the northbound I-25.
At approximately mile number 285, there was a crash involving the suspect’s vehicle, two Santa Fe police cars, and an uninvolved vehicle.
Law enforcement at the scene is looking for the suspect. Police are encouraging residents of the area to stay indoors.
I-25 is closed in both directions – at mile mark 284 North and mile mark 290 South – to vehicles and pedestrian traffic.
The old Las Vegas highway is also closed to traffic.
Details are limited as the scene remains active.
Authorities said Santa Fe Waldorf School is under a security system in place due to police activity in the area.
The state police said that no students have been released until further notice.
