bakersfie Major accident on Interstate 5 closes all southbound lanes
Northern California firefighters work to put out a four-alarm blaze near the Port of Benicia, about 40 miles northeast of San Francisco.
While the response to the fire is “active and ongoing,” the Benicia Fire Department said wind conditions in the area are favorable and the fire poses no threat to the public, and no buildings have been burned.
Fire officials say they did not have to issue protection orders in place, but asked residents to avoid the Bayshore Road area near the docks.
The fire department said several nearby fire departments were providing assistance.
