A 3-year-old girl dies after being washed up over a 400-foot waterfall in North Carolina.

The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office said the little girl, identified as Neva Jade Newswanger, is from Denver, Pennsylvania.
She was visiting Whitewater Falls with her family when she was swept away by the water at the top of the falls and the current pushed her over the falls. In a press release.
The Jackson County 911 Emergency Management Center received a call about the child at 5.50 p.m. Sunday.
Emergency responders from several counties responded to the scene and tried to locate the child.
“Shortly before dark, rescuers found the dead child trapped in an area of the waterfall,” the mayor’s office said in the statement.
The recovery operations continued through the night into the early morning, authorities said, until the child recovered around 1 am on Monday.
Whitewater Falls is the highest waterfall east of the Rockies, with a height of 125 meters, according to the US Forest Service.

The nearby Lower Whitewater Falls in South Carolina also dropped 122 metres.
