TOOELE COUNTY, Utah — Motorcyclist killed in crash on I-80 near Tooele, on Interstate 80 Sunday afternoon.
The Utah Highway Patrol said the bike went off the road on eastbound I-80 near Landmark 99, between the Tooele Highway exit and Great Salt Lake State Park.
UHP officials said strong winds may have been a factor in the accident, but the exact cause of the motorcycle cutting off the road is not yet known.
UHP also said they don’t yet know if the rider is wearing a helmet.
After the motorcycle accident, a secondary accident occurred between two cars. UHP said the people involved suffered minor, non-life-threatening injuries.
The motorcyclist was heading east when the motorbike left the road, according to the Utah Highway Patrol Cpl.

Bishop said strong winds in the area may have played a role.
Terrible accident..be more careful
Eastern I-80 was initially closed entirely, but one lane has since reopened.
However, traffic is at a standstill at least one mile from the scene.
The identity of the motorcyclist has not yet been revealed.
