Secret Service fatally shoots intruder at home of Peruvian ambassador
MONTE VISTA, Colorado – A fire has spread to the San Luis Valley, leading to evictions in Monte Vista, according to the Rio Grande County Sheriff’s Office.
The Valley Courier newspaper reported that as many as 16 buildings were damaged or destroyed.
According to the sheriff’s office, Monte Vista Police, Monte Vista Fire, Del Norte Fire and Alamosa Police are also on site.
Additional resources were called in, with the Colorado Department of Fire Protection taking the lead.

According to the Costilla County Office of Emergency Management, a DFPC helicopter is being used to throw water on a fire.
An evacuation point is being established at the Ski High complex located at 2235 Sherman Ave.
“We are making good progress at this time,” a tweet from the ministry said.
The SkyFOX photographer said there appeared to be “a few” buildings destroyed but that crews appeared to have the fire under control.
An evacuation point has been set up at the city’s Ski High complex, according to the sheriff’s office. The Red Cross helps support evacuees.
First responders ask people to stay away from the area while they work to put out the fire.
There will be a press conference at Monte Vista City Hall at 6pm
