BAwai – On Wednesday, authorities searched for a teenage girl who went missing this week during a neighborhood picnic.
Cassidy Chan, 13, left her home on Heritage Drive to take the family dog for a walk just before 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, according to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department.
When she failed to return, Lieutenant Kevin Ralph said, her relatives reported her missing.
Members of the police search and rescue unit deployed to the areas around the girl’s home on Wednesday morning, hoping to locate her immediately.
Chan is described as Asian, standing about 5 feet 1 inch tall and 100 pounds with straight black hair.
She was last seen wearing a black sweater, black pants and black shoes. The family dog is a small white dog named Lucy.
Officials said Chan’s family called the sheriff’s department when Cassidy didn’t come home.
Sheriff’s Search and Rescue (SAR) unit is working with Sheriff’s Station Poway and the Sheriff’s Juvenile Services Group to locate Chan and her dog, Lucy.
