Morristown, Minnesota – A person was booked this morning in the Rice County Jail for premeditated murder.
Authorities say a “very active investigation” is underway after a man was found dead in Morristown early Tuesday.
The Rice County Sheriff’s Office said lawmakers responded to the disturbance call at about 12:40 a.m. in Block 100 on Second Street in the southeast.
According to a press release from the Rice County Sheriff’s Office, the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Arrests is on the scene in Morristown to investigate the scene of death.
The Rice County Sheriff’s Office received a service call early this morning in Morristown regarding a disturbance.
According to the press release, at 12:41 a.m., the Rice County Sheriff’s Office was sent a disturbance call in Morristown.
“On arrival at the scene, patrol deputies called a man in the residence who reported that one person was seriously injured.
Patrol deputies have designated a spot for a deceased male as a result of a home security glitch.
An adult man was detained.
There is no perceived threat to the audience at this time.
This is still a very active investigation.
The BCA is handling the scene.”
A person has been booked this morning in the Rice County Jail for premeditated murder with a firearm, and the name of this individual pending formal charges will be withheld.
