MEMPHIS, Tenn— Memphis firefighter killed, 4 hurt in crash
,The City of Memphis has reported a Memphis firefighter was killed and three hospitalized in a vehicle collision on Wednesday.
According to the City of Memphis, the fire department was responding to a fire in the 500th building of Cambridge Street when an MFD truck was involved in a crash.
The city said four firefighters were taken to the regional trauma unit, but one firefighter did not survive their injuries.
The other four victims, including a civilian, are still in hospital.
The cause of the accident is unknown, but Memphis police say there is a surveillance video that could help them investigate the accident.
The city says the Memphis Fire Department (MFD) was responding to a fire alarm at 8:10 p.m. During the response, an MFD vehicle was involved in a collision with another vehicle identified as a pickup truck.
Four MFD firefighters were taken to the 1st Regional Trauma Center where one of them succumbed to his injuries.
