Los Angeles –  Liz Sheridan, the veteran stage and screen actress who played Jerry Seinfeld’s mother Helen on “Seinfeld,” died Friday morning.

Her manager and friend Amanda Hendon confirmed to CNN.

Amanda Hendon, an actress and longtime friend, said Sheridan died in her sleep of natural causes, five days after her birthday on April 10.

She did not provide further details, including where Sheridan lives.

Her role on Seinfeld as Helen was her best known, but it followed decades of work on stage and screen.

In the 1970s, Sheridan appeared on Broadway in plays and musicals, including Happy End with Meryl Streep and Ballroom.

Although she has dozens of movie credits, she is best known as Seinfeld’s point mother on the sitcom Honorary, which ran for nine seasons.

She also appeared as Snoopy’s neighbor Mrs. Oshomonk in the alien-led sitcom “ALF”.

Sheridan, a trained dancer, made her Broadway debut in 1971 in “Frank Meriwell” and has appeared in several other productions.

Including Meryl Streep—starring the musical “Happy End” in 1977, until she focused primarily on film and television from the 1980s onwards.

Sheridan was also an author, writing her autobiography “Dizzy & Jimmy” about her relationship with a young James Dean who pre-starred when the two aspired to perform on Broadway shows.
Hendon said that at the time of her death, she was working on developing the book into a movie.

In her book Dizzy & Jimmy, Sheridan recounts a romance in the early 1950s with the then unknown James Dean.

Sheridan, aka Dizzy, was a young New York City nightclub dancer when she met Dean.

After their separation, he became a star with films including Rebel Without a Cause. He died in a car accident in 1955, at the age of 24.

Elizabeth Ann Sheridan, born in New York, married jazz musician William Del Wells, who died in 2003. Sheridan is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, according to Hendon.
