The body of Tavaris Bulgin, 26, of Clarendon, Jamaica, was recovered by authorities Monday morning, hours after he and his brother, Tavaughn Bulgin, 21, had jumped off the bridge that connects Edgartown to Oak Bluffs at around 11 p.m. Sunday.
Four people jumped off the bridge, officially called the American Legion Memorial Bridge but best known for its appearance in the 1975 movie “Jaws,” Sunday night, a Coast Guard spokesperson told CBS Boston.
The Coast Guard began searching around 11:20 p.m. and found two of the four uninjured.
State Police spokesman Dave Procopio said the initial search continued until about 3:30 a.m., CBS Boston reported.
Then divers were brought in to search after sunrise.
Massachusetts State Police said the search on Monday focused on the ocean side of the bridge.
People continued to jump off the bridge on Monday in defiance of signs saying that jumping and diving are not allowed.
