Polk City crash
POLK COUNTY, Fla. — Fiery semi crash closes I-4 in both directions in Polk City, Interstate 4 is closed in both directions in Polk City Thursday morning after a fiery crash involving a semi-truck.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the crash happened earlier Thursday, involving a semi and several other vehicles.
The overturned semi, resulting in fire and lingering smoke will likely keep the roadway closed for several hours.
According to Polk County Fire Rescue, diesel fuel was spilled in the area of the crash.
Eastbound I-4 drivers are being routed off at the eastbound Polk Parkway exit while westbound drivers are being routed off at SR 559.
State Road 33 can also be used as an alternate.
Authorities have not released any details on the crash or injuries.
