NEW YORK (Associated Press) – An FBI agent responded by shooting and killing a suspect who shot a police investigator Wednesday inside the Yonkers Bodega Building, officials said.
Yonkers detective recovering after being shot, suspect killed by FBI agent
Yonkers Police said the detective, who was once hit in the stomach, was taken to hospital in a serious but stable condition after undergoing “emergency surgery for life-threatening internal injuries.”
As reported by CBS 2’s Corey James, the process of recovering the illegal weapons was short-lived, but ended in death.
“Seconds were seconds,” Yonkers Police Commissioner John Mueller said.
Police say one suspect was killed Wednesday after allegedly attacking a plainclothes detective inside a bodega on Elm and Linden Streets.
At Yonkers, this was the third shooting this year.
The detective is being cared for at Jacobi Medical Center with some serious injuries.
Mueller said one of the suspects tried to overtake the detective before he showed up to fire a handgun from his pocket, injuring the detective, a 27-year-old veteran of the Yonkers Police Department.
Then the FBI agent shot the suspect, killing him.
Mueller said an initial investigation showed that none of the task force members responded to the shooting.
This officer was taken to Jacobi Hospital and underwent emergency surgery for injuries to his kidneys, colon and intestines.
