GLENN HEIGHTS, Texas — Evacuations are underway as a wildfire burns in the City of Glenn Heights, official say.

At about 3:30 p.m. Friday, officials said a fire broke out in the square between Lane Dell Estate and the city’s Mesa Additional District.

As the fire continued to spread, officials said, three neighborhoods — Craddock, Mesa Wood and Watercrest — were evacuated.

The Mesa and Lyndale Estates neighborhoods are being evacuated, and those living nearby are being asked to stay out of the area.

The fire is located near S. Hampton Road and Mesa Wood Drive. Nearby roads have been closed as crews work to put out the flames.

Several fire departments were called in to help.

The cause of the fire has not been reported at this time.

Glen Heights is located along IH-35 East, and the community is divided between Dallas and Ellis counties.
