Fire officials are urging residents to prepare for evacuation and to follow all law enforcement orders.

The Crockett Fire Department has issued a warning for the entire town of about 250 people to be prepared to leave if necessary.

The warning urged residents to prepare immediately for the possibility of receiving a mandatory evacuation warning, but no order was issued until 4pm.
Strong warning of evacuation

The evacuees are being asked to head towards Martinez and keep the homeland safe.

The Mayor’s Department, the California Highway Patrol, and Cal Fire are all assisting.

Officials say the advance has been halted in a 65-acre bushfire near Sunol and Pleasanton.

In an interview with ABC7 News, a CAL FIRE official said there is a threat to transmission lines and evacuations are underway.

The Contra Costa County Community Alert System has issued the following instructions to those who are subject to evacuation warnings.

Gather any important things you can carry with you, including medicine, baby supplies, money, important papers and photos. Keep your home safe.

Locate any pets or animals and be prepared to crate or leash them.”

“If you need extra time to evacuate, you should leave now.”

Steve Trotter, the department’s information officer, said multiple units, in addition to air support, were battling the fires.

It was zero percent contained as of 4 p.m., but Trotter said firefighters were “confident” they would be able to save the city.

“We’re confident, but it’s clearly still a threat,” Trotter said.

“The area has a lot of grass and plants are abundantly planted.”

Weather was reported along the shoreline of the Karkenes Strait in the mid-1980s with winds of up to 20 mph Thursday afternoon.
