Dan Aykroyd and Donna Dixon
Dan Aykroyd and his wife, Donna Dixon, are divorcing after nearly 40 years of marriage. The couple announced their separation in a joint on Friday, noting that they are still legally married.
They said, “After 39 years as a married couple, we are now on separate life paths. We are still legally married, co-parents, co-workers, and business partners.” “This is our choice in loving friendship.”
The estranged couple tied the knot in 1983 after meeting earlier that year on the set of the movie Doctor Detroit.
Aykroyd and Dixon met on the set of Doctor Detroit in 1983 and married shortly after the film’s release.
They have three daughters together, including singer-songwriter Vera Sola (born Danielle Aykroyd).
Describing their marriage in 2014, Aykroyd told the Tampa Bay Times:
“You have to find the right person – look them in the eye, make them look back, know their soul.”
Mind in dealing with boys from time to time. I call her the white gods. I am the green devil. “
He continued at the time: “Then, when I was starting my projects, i.e. selling a piece of material, I had to establish a value and broker a deal.
So, I’ve been in the show business all the way through. It’s not hard to look at numbers in another dimension.”
“I met Carrie on Saturday Night Live,” he told Empire magazine in a January 2017 interview. She and John Belushi became instant friends.
I remember how much you made him laugh.
Later, while filming Blues Brothers, Carrie and I fell in love and during filming, she moved me to a penthouse suite in the futuristic aluminum-covered Astro Tower, for which I knew I would apologize.
Carrie had the finest eye for art and design.”
He continued, “Carrie wasn’t shallow, we had a great time. She was also in love with Paul Simon. She married him, but I wish she kept my ring.”
After their separation in 1980, the Star Wars actress – who died in December 2016 of a heart attack – reconnected with Simon, 80.
After their split, she dated Bryan Lourd, with whom she shared her daughter, Billie Lourd.
