New Orleans – Legendary Chris Owens has passed away, sources say.
Owens has been a staple of New Orleans nightlife since the 1950s.
As news of her death spread, New Orleans residents, officials and fans took to social media to share memories and stories of the legendary artist.
She owned a popular bar on Bourbon Street and organized the annual Easter Parade, which was due to return after COVID in two weeks.
Planning was underway for Owens’ annual Easter Parade, which she has led since the 1980s.
He will return to the French Quarter next week on Easter Sunday after a two-year pandemic halted.
Adams said the show would continue in Owens’ honor.
Owens’ longevity and boundless energy sparked frequent comments and speculations about her age, which she famously hid.

The Texan native was visiting her sister in New Orleans at the age of 20 when she fell in love with the city.
“That was my first look at New Orleans, the most exciting place I’ve ever seen,” Owens said.
