CHICAGO – A guest at a hotel exchanged fire with a potential thief in the North River on Sunday, Chicago police said.
Police said a man was staying at Godfrey’s at 100 blocks of West Huron Street when an unknown person knocked on his door shortly after 11:30 p.m.
Police said the man, 53, was staying at the Godfrey Hotel when an unknown person knocked on his door at 11:30 p.m.
The victim told the police that the attacker started shooting, and responded by shooting, prompting the attacker to flee the scene.
The victim survived the accident with a head wound that was treated by paramedics.
Police said the 53-year-old opened the door, a man made his way into the room, pulled out a gun, and demanded the victim’s belongings.
Police said the suspect then started shooting at the victim and the victim responded by shooting.
Police said the thief fled the scene and left the victim with a head wound.
The victim was treated at the scene by the Chicago Fire Department and refused further medical attention.
The police found a weapon from the scene. Nobody is in custody.
