Web Lake, Wisconsin. An eviction notice has been issued by the Wisconsin DNR for a wildfire burning in Burnett County.

The massive fire threatens the town of eastern Switzerland and the western side of Webb Lake, according to an evacuation report. The report says that the nearby refuge is located in the Danbury Casino.

5:52 p.m. Update: Burnett County Police officials have confirmed that a wildfire burning near Webb Lake on Saturday is now under control and there is no danger to the public.

This update came from the county sheriff’s office at 5:50 p.m. Saturday, less than an hour after an alert was issued asking people living east of Swiss Township and west of Lake Webb to evacuate to St. Croix Casino Danbury.

Burnett County police officials told KBJR 6 Saturday afternoon that they believe the eviction alert may have been issued as an error, but they were unable to comment further on that at this time.

Some residents of Burnett County have been told to evacuate their homes immediately due to large wildfires burning near the town of eastern Switzerland, west of Lake Webb.

An evacuation shelter has been established at Casino St. Croix in Danbury, located at 30222 WI-35 #77, Danbury, WI 54830.
