Batavia car crash on Kirk Road
BATAVIA, Illinois – Two people were killed and two others, one a child, injured in a six-vehicle crash in Batavia’s western suburbs Monday afternoon.
Batavia police said they responded to the accident, which occurred on 1,300 squares of S. Kirk Road around 1:36 p.m., and found one car overturned on its roof.

Police said the two occupants of the car died upon arrival. The identities of the victims are withheld until their families are notified.
In addition, a woman and a young child were taken in another vehicle to a local hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening, police said. No other injuries were reported.
Batavia police said the accident also involved a semi-trailer tractor, an additional tractor pulling a fuel tank and four additional passenger cars.
Police believe one of the passenger cars was changing lanes when it hit the trailer, causing the vehicle to cross into oncoming traffic and then overturn.
As of 2:25 p.m., Batavia Police said Kirk Road is closed between E. Wilson Street and Butterfield Road (Route 56) due to the accident.
Drivers are asked to avoid the area. Police have not yet said if there were any injuries.
Police said an investigation was still underway into the cause of the crash.
