Austin St. John actor who played the original Red Ranger in the ’90s Mighty Morphin Power Rangers series, found himself in trouble with the Feds this week.

U.S. Attorney Brett Featherstone and the Department of Justice announced the arrests of 18 people, including St. John, for conspiracy to commit online fraud in a press release Wednesday.

Austin St. John, who played the Red Power Ranger on the show, which aired from 1993 to 1995, was one of 18 accused of making fraudulent applications for Paycheck Protection loans, turning them into ringleaders.

John, 47, was arrested at his home Thursday morning, TMZ reports. A representative for the actor did not immediately respond to EW’s request for comment.

John, whose real name is Jason Geiger, is alleged to have obtained more than $400,000 in fraudulent PPP loans.

And he transferred it to another defendant, not for the purposes of using the loans as intended. According to the Ministry of Justice, each of the accused faces a prison sentence of up to 20 years.

One of the defendants, Michael Hill, allegedly recruited other individuals to either use an existing business or create one in order to apply for funding from the Small Business Administration’s Paycheck Protection Program, the loan program designed to keep businesses afloat during a crisis. COVID-19.

The Department of Justice named Michael Hill and Andrew Moran as the alleged leaders of the scheme.

The 18 conspirators allegedly received 16 loans and at least $3.5 million in total. If convicted, they each face 20 years in federal prison.

Saint John, born Jason Lawrence Geiger, starred as Jason Lee Scott, the Red Ranger, in Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, which premiered in 1993.
And he’s back in the franchise growing over the years as his character transitioned to Gold Ranger.

 John 47, has reprized his role on several Power Rangers shoots over the years, including most recently as a guest on the 2020 TV show “Power Rangers Beast Morphers.”
