As of 9 a.m., no shots had been fired and law enforcement had not been able to find or identify anyone at Western Missouri Medical Center.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported on Twitter at 9:03 a.m. that troops responded to WMMC reports of a man armed with a firearm.
The tweet states that no shots were fired and the male has not been identified or located by law enforcement.
At 9:08 a.m., the WMMC posted on Facebook that the active shooter was in the WMMC main hospital building and that it was not training.
At 9:44 a.m., the post was updated for state employees and patients were evacuated.
The Warrensburg Police Department posted on Facebook at 9:24 a.m.: “There is currently a situation at Western Missouri Medical Center, and police are at the scene.
Please avoid the area.” At 9:40 a.m., the post was updated that an evacuation is underway.
Officers were disinfecting the building, and staff and patients were evacuated from the facility, according to law enforcement.
The Warrensburg Police Department has asked the public to avoid the area.
The Warrensburg Parks and Recreation Department has announced that the Warrensburg Community Center is closed and Nassif Aquarium will be closed until the situation is resolved.
