Akron, Ohio – Akron police release ‘heartbreaking’ body cam videos of officers killing Jayland Walker, after Akron police said he fled a transit point last week.

Akron Police Chief Steve Millett said it appeared Gayland Walker reached his waist during a foot chase with police and turned briefly toward the officers before they opened fire on Monday morning.

It is really a sad quote

The video shows several officers converging on the car at the end of a chase.

Walker appeared to get out of the car wearing a ski mask, and Police Chief Stephen Millett said it appeared Walker reached his waist during a foot pursuit and turned briefly toward the officers before they opened fire.

During a news conference Sunday, Millett spoke in detail for the first time since the 25-year-old was fatally shot after he fled what began as a routine traffic stop.

Millett said the coroner found 60 cuts on Walker’s body, though the actual number of shots fired has not been determined.

The president said that when the shooting stopped, officers immediately tried to provide care for Walker, but he died at the scene.

Millett said eight officers were directly involved in the shooting, all of whom were on administrative leave.

Police released two videos during the press conference.

The first was narrated and edited to show key moments in what happened, including a photo of a flash coming from the door of a Buick Walker.

“It was hard to watch and shocking,” Millett said, adding, “I will not pass judgment” until the investigation is over.

Millett praised the Walker family for calling for peaceful demonstrations.

Mayor Daniel Horrigan called for calm and patience while the investigation was being conducted.

Did Gayland Walker shoot the police?

Walker left a pistol, an ammunition clip and what appeared to be a gold wedding ring on the driver’s seat, according to the video released by the city.

Walker’s fiancée, Jaymaisha Beasley, was killed in an accident last month.

Millett said Walker was unarmed as he fled his car and ran away from the police.
