Officials say the 911 call came at about 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 14, saying that White walked away from his home along the Cedar Trail in Danville, but was not wearing any clothes at the time.
She told authorities that the White family had been looking for the boy for some time, but had not found him, so deputies responded and called in air support from the Virginia State Police.
While weather conditions forced air support to retreat, drones and K9 infrared units still searched the area for most of the night.
